Anthony Albrecht is a Novocastrian cellist known for his “dramatic flair” and “fluent and virtuosic” performances (Seen and Heard International, Sydney Morning Herald). Based in London, he is a frequent flyer for work with the Australian Haydn Ensemble, Pinchgut Opera and New Vintage Baroque (NYC).
Passionate about making classical music accessible in the 21st century, in 2017 he undertook a self-managed solo tour of over 30 concerts in regional Australia called ‘Bach to the Bush’. Other recent solo engagements include a concerto performance with the Adelaide Baroque Orchestra, a recital at the Handel and Hendrix House in London and a performance of Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D at the Newcastle Music Festival. He runs his own festival in East Sussex, the Lapwing Music Festival, which supports the effort to save the iconic Coastguard Cottages at Cuckmere Haven. He holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School in New York City.
