Bill Barclay is the Director of Music at Shakespeare’s Globe, where he has produced music for over 120 productions and 150 concerts since 2011. Original scores include Romeo and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night, Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Emilia, Edward II, and Hamlet Globe-to-Globe, which toured 197 countries in 2014-16. Broadway and West End: Farinelli and the King, Twelfth Night, and Richard III all starring Mark Rylance.
Through his company Concert Theatre Works, Bill has created original programs for actors and orchestra for the Boston Symphony, LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Washington National Cathedral, Tanglewood, and others. Bill piloted the Candlelit Concert series in the Globe's Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and is the founder of the record label Globe Music. An recognized voice on the music of Shakespeare, he edited the recent study Shakespeare, Music, and Performance (Cambridge University Press).
