Serafina Steer trained as a harpist but now just as likely to be seen playing the bass guitar, keyboards or singing. She has released three solo albums - Cheap Demo Bad Science, Change Is Good Change Is Good, and The Moths Are Real.
She co-founded all female post-punk-ish trio Bas Jan in 2016. In January 2018 their debut album 'Yes I Jan' was released in February 2018 on independent Scottish label, Lost Map. This album featured the combined production skills of Capitol K, Leafcutter John and Leo Abrahams.

Bas Jan have been championed by BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, have performed (at The British FIlm Institute) & recorded with Jarvis Cocker on an adaptation of 'Likely Stories' by Neil Gaiman for Sky. They have performed live at Serpentine Summer Pavilion in london, Green Man, End of the Road and Supernormal, as well as BBC 6 Music Live and Radio 3. Last summer they performed at Berlin's Wassermusik Festival 'Brexit- Goodbye UK and thank you for the music' alongside Scritti Politti.
Much of 2018 was also spent developing material and performing with Jarvis Cocker’s new project ‘Jarv..is’ in which she plays electric harp, keyboards and sings. The new ensemble made a mini tour of caves in the UK, California and in Hong Kong. Jarv..is will be performing more dates in summer 2019.
